Calculate age from a date of birth

  1. Enter the date of birth.
  2. Choose Calculate.
  3. Read the result in years, months and days, counted up to today.
  4. Check the date before you use the result in any official paperwork.

How the age result is counted

The result is a calendar-date difference, not simply the number of days divided by 365. Leap years and month lengths affect the displayed years, months and days.

Accuracy and appropriate use

This utility calculates dates entered by the visitor. It does not verify identity documents, time of birth, local legal age rules, or eligibility for benefits. Check official records for legal or administrative decisions.

What the result shows

Enter the date of birth and press Calculate. The tool counts the full years, the extra months and the extra days from that date up to today and shows them as years, months and days. For example, on 25 October 2026 a person born on 15 March 1990 is 36 years, 7 months and 10 days old. The result changes every day, because it always counts to today.

Why it is not days divided by 365

Years do not have the same number of days, because of leap years, and months have 28 to 31 days, so the result is counted by calendar dates and not by dividing the total days by 365. Two people born a few days apart can show the same number of years but different months and days. If you want the total number of days from a birth date, use Date Difference Calculator with today as the end date.

Official use

The calculator only works with the date you type. It does not check identity documents or the time of birth, and it does not apply the age rules of a school, an employer or a country. For admissions, a job application, a pension or a legal matter, rely on the official documents and the rules of the office that asks.
