About Time Calculator

A time calculator can help add durations or compare times while planning a shift, class, trip or project. Confirm whether you are entering a duration or a clock time before calculating.

How to use Time Calculator

  1. Enter the hours and minutes for the first duration.
  2. Enter a second duration or time value as requested.
  3. Choose the calculation action and review the result.
  4. Check whether the result crosses midnight or represents more than 24 hours.
  5. Confirm breaks, time zones or daylight-saving changes separately when scheduling.

What it leaves out

The calculator does not know about breaks, overtime rules, holidays, time zones or daylight-saving changes, and it does not subtract one clock time from another. For payroll or attendance records use the official records of your employer or school, and check the result against them. If you need a figure in decimal hours, divide the minutes by 60, so 255 minutes is 4.25 hours.
