Edit PDF Online

Add text, pictures, shapes, highlights and white-out anywhere on any page, then download the edited PDF. Your file is not uploaded. FREE

Use this tool responsibly: fill in forms, correct your own documents and add notes. Do not change a document to mislead anyone.

How to use this tool
  1. Press Choose a PDF and select your file. Every page appears as a preview. Use + and − to zoom.
  2. Text: press Text, click where the words should go and type. Choose the font, size, Bold and colour in the line under the buttons.
  3. Picture: press Picture and choose a PNG or JPG, for example a signature or a stamp. Drag it to move it and drag a corner to resize it.
  4. Box, Highlight, White-out: press the button, then drag on the page.
  5. To change a printed word: press Select and click the word (or choose its line in the box under the preview). Type the new word in the small box that appears under it and press Replace or the Enter key. The font, size, bold, italic and colour are matched to the original, and you can adjust them.
  6. Select: click an item to move it, drag a corner to resize it, double-click text to change it. Undo and Delete are beside the buttons.
  7. Press Download edited PDF. Tick Flatten first if covered text must be removed for good.
  8. Limits: 40 MB and 80 pages (Flatten: 30 pages). A page that is rotated inside the file must be straightened first with Rotate PDF. Urdu or Arabic letters cannot be typed here; add them as a picture.

To change existing text, click it with Select and use the Replace existing text box under the preview. The old text is only covered, not deleted: tick Flatten when you download to remove it for good (the pages then become pictures and the text cannot be selected). A scanned PDF has no selectable text: cover the old words with White-out and type over them.

Frequently asked questions

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. The PDF is opened and edited in your browser and never leaves your device.

Can I change the existing text in a PDF?

Yes. With the Select tool click the word you want to change, or choose the line from the list under the preview, then type the new text in the small box that appears under the word. The preview changes as you type, and the font, size, bold, italic and colour are matched to the original as closely as possible. The original font file cannot be reused, so the nearest standard font (Arial, Times or Courier) is used. The old text is covered, not deleted, unless you tick Flatten.

What if the tool cannot match the style?

Every part of the style can be changed by hand in the same box: font, size, bold, italic, text colour and the colour behind the text. A scanned PDF has no selectable text, so use White-out and then Text.

Does White-out really remove the text under it?

Not by itself. It only covers it. Tick Flatten when you download to remove the covered content for good.
